Coca Cola Film Festival presents a John Hughes Double-Feature: Ferris Bueller's Day Off & The Breakfast Club

You haven't seen a movie until you've seen one at the Fox Theatre! Join the Fabulous Fox this summer for the Coca Cola Film Festival featuring some of America's most classic films. The first series in the Coca Cola Film Festival begins on June 3rd with classic movies showing through June 5th.

Saturday, June 4th features two of John Hughes most beloved films: Ferris Bueller's Day Off & The Breakfast Club.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (PG-13)
Teenaged Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a legend… Show more in his own time thanks to his uncanny skill at cutting classes and getting away with it.

Intending to make one last grand duck-out before graduation, Ferris calls in sick, "borrows" a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day bacchanal through the streets of Chicago. Dogging Ferris' trail at every turn is high-school principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), determined to catch Bueller in the act of class-cutting.

Writer/director John Hughes once again tries to wed satire, slapstick, and social commentary, as Ferris Bueller's Day Off starts like a house afire and goes on to make "serious" points about status-seeking and casual parental cruelties. It brightens up considerably in the last few moments, when Ferris' tattletale sister (Jennifer Grey) decides to align herself with her merry prankster sibling.

The Breakfast Club (R)
They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library.

At 7 am, they had nothing to say, but by 4 pm, they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends.

To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.
