Parktoberfest is historic Whittier Mill Village's annual fund-raiser for Whittier Mill Park. This is a family-friendly event, showcasing regional food and musical talent. Nashville's up-and-coming The Apache Relay Band will headline while 5 Seasons Brewery, Westside Bar & Café and Westside Creamery will offer food choices in the $3-$10 range. A $20 tax-deductible donation gets adults a commemorative cup for all-you-can-drink craft beer. ($5 for those not drinking; children under 12 are free.)

Parktoberfest is a great fall festival in one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods. Volunteers work months in advance to throw a great party that makes money for Whittier Mill Park, once the site of a 19th century cotton mill. Over the years, the event has become known for its terrific food and excellent music, like the nationally acclaimed Packway Handle Band (2009 and 2010), The Whiskey Gentry Band (2010) and now The Apache Relay Band.
