Celtic Roots of Southern Music

The W.B. Yeats Foundation at Emory University presents a three-day conference, Making Connections: The Celtic Roots Of Southern Music, April 27-29 at Cannon Chapel on the campus of Emory University. Through lectures, demonstrations, workshops, panel discussions and concerts, an internationally… Show more renowned group of performers and scholars will explore the connections between the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland and the American South and examine the role of folk music as an ongoing, living tradition that and its impact on "community," past and present. The conference will feature performances by Atlantic Fringe with Cathy Jordan, Rick Epping, Henry Benagh and Jordan McConnell; Jamie Laval and the Buzzrunners; Sheila Kay Adams; Alan Jabbour and Ken Perlman; and the Vega String Quartet; and presentations by Henry Glassie, Fintan Vallely, John Moulden, and Paul Wells.
