The early part of the last century is regarded as a period of astonishing artistic creativity in Spain, one in which both “artâ€* and “folkâ€* traditions merged, giving way to an amazing number of beautiful literary and musical creations. Virtually all important avant-garde… Show more artists of the first half of the twentieth century were influenced by that form of Andalusian folklore known as Flamenco. These include poets and playwrights such as Federico García Lorca and composers such as Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz, and Joaquín Rodrigo, artists whose works will be represented. It is our hope to demonstrate how these artists found in Flamenco some of their strongest sources of inspiration, and show how the modernistic approaches of their creations carry the distinctive flavor of that sophisticated and exceptionally seductive form of art.
