Commemorating 280 years of Jews in Georgia

Wednesday, Jul 10, 2013 6:00p to 8:00p

In 1773, Georgia's first Jewish settlers arrived in Savannah. These Jewish families worked together to form Congregation Mickve Israel in Savannah, the third oldest synagogue in America. A descendant of one of these families, freelance journalist Carolyn Wildes Cunningham, will discuss why Gen.Oglethorpe allowed the Jewish settlers to stay.

After this presentation, you are invited to participate in a Q&A session about this topic or your genealogy journey during a "Beginning Genealogy" class.
