The Jackie Look

Finley will appear as Jackie Kennedy giving a lecture in 2009 looking back at her images in pictures. Finley will use the opportunity to consider the trauma of our nation's historical imagery and to be conscious of the healing power of the transformation of our painful memory landscape into new images of future promise and imagination. While looking at the most photographed woman of her time the performance considers the public/ private place of looking, the gaze of trauma, the process of memory and documentation. Jackie will address the looking at Michelle Obama and the real meaning with our fascination of her bare arms. Current events will be updated in the text such as Michael Jackson, since Jackie edited Jackson's book. Memory, projection, gender and race, power, loss and hope will be part of this powerful and emotional one woman performance.
