The Mercantile

Today,I was initially excited upon entering the establishment.I walked in and saw the exotic wines, fresh baked bread, desserts, and specialty dinners. The food looked delicious and it was very clean. I stood at the glass case viewing the meals and salads ready to place my order. There was someone there before me who had placed a order. So I continued to wait patiently. There were 5 people who were working. No one acknowledged me or asked If they could assist me. They acted as If I were invisible. I waited for about 10 to 15 minutes.By the way I am african american female, who works in corporate. And I was dressed in business attire and well groomed, If that helps any. I hate to assume that this was a form of discrimination. However there were several other people who came in after me, who were different than me...they were waited on and greeted........Makes you wonder....

Deli and specialty food shop The Mercantile in Candler Park features local and regional goodies along with produce from local farms, and fresh flowers. There’s also made-to-order sandwiches, a couple of daily housemade soups, and takeaway dinner specials and sides. The most popular sandwich is called The Candler — a Thanksgiving leftover-style melange of roasted turkey, crispy pancetta, cranberries and cream cheese on wheat or white bread. Rotisserie chicken is available every day. The “salt and pepper” basted birds are delicious, with moist meat and crispy skin.
