02/24/2010 - accessAtlanta - Meridith Ford Goldman

If you’re among the few of us left who actually lament the fall of fine dining in Atlanta, take heart: Aria will celebrate its 10th anniversary next month. The milestone is a testament to chef-owner Gerry Klaskala’s innate ability to direct a kitchen that, night after night, throws finesse into even the simplest of dishes, always striking a synchronistic chord between stylish and comfortable.

Outstanding

I've eaten at some of the finest restaurants in town, and our first visit to Aria on Sat. confirms this is our new favorite restaurant.
Flavors like no other- mushroom ravioli, crab cakes, black grouper and braised short rib were all over the top. Wine selection is excellent as was the service. Get there early- tends to get very noisy as the night progresses. We will definitely be back. You'll need deep pockets when you dine there, but it will be worth every penny.

They know how to treat you

My wife and I recently celebrated our 30th anniversary at Aria. I wanted to surprise her with somewhere we haven't dined before. The surprise wasn't only her's. The day before we went for dinner I received a call from Aria offering the wine cellar as the room had come available. While I didn't take them up on it (I know, I can hear you-"are you nuts!") it was wonderful of them to make the offer. The wine cellar is a one table, highly desireable room. I was assured that a romantic table would be reserved for us. We were given a wonderful booth in the balcony and the magic began. Flawless service, one of the best overall dining experiences we've had since coming to Atlanta in 1980. Chef Gerry has put his brand on food that is some of the absolute best anywhere. The Warm Lobster Cocktail was beautiful and wonderful. Their slooooww cooked, braised pork was incredible. I had the scallops with shrimp risotto-so simple yet unbelievably tasty. Top it off with warm chocolate cheesecake. If you haven't been and are looking for somewhere new for a romantic or special occasion-please go! And if you can get it in advance, get the wine cellar-I know I will next time!
