La Battalia! 17th-century Battle Music. Director Julie Andrijeski leads Baroque trumpets and two opposing string choirs in the fantastical musical battles of Biber and Schmeltzer. The Orchestra premieres works never performed anywhere in the world since the late 1600s. Renowned musicologist Charles Brewer's pre-concert lecture at 3:15 leads our musical journey to the legendary 17th-century gardens and palace of Kromeriz in Moravia for compositions by Rittler, Vejvanovsky, and more.
